Truck Fleet Management Trends for 2014

Posted by Jesus McDonald on Fri, Dec 27, 2013 @ 07:00 AM

2013 is coming to a close and it’s time to prepare for 2014. Take a moment to review the key trends in truck fleet management for the upcoming year.

In an extremely informative article, Mike Antich, Editor and Associate Publisher at Truckinginfo.com, shares the top trends in truck fleet management in 2014. Mr. Antich maintains that 2014 and 2015 will be pivotal years for truck fleet management, and fleet efficiencies; he examines trends in the following three areas:

1.   Vehicle and Equipment

Lighter-weight equipment specifications in fleet vehicles will lighten the load and continue to help increase fuel economy. Driver comfort, as well as driver safety will be ongoing priorities for vehicle manufacturers, which in turn will encourage a higher rate of driver satisfaction and productivity. In terms of safety, manufacturers are offering enhanced safety features on basic models, thereby increasing safety at all price points.Fleets are obviously impacted by DOT and CSA regulatory compliance, but safety vs. cost needs to be carefully managed. Some fleets are choosing to downsize to smaller GVW vehicles to manage costs while still maintaining safety.

Truckers and Freight Bill Factoring - Reliability Matters!

Posted by Gil Oliva on Wed, Oct 23, 2013 @ 07:45 AM

So what is freight bill factoring? and why is reliability so important?

In simple terms, factoring companies pay you money now for freight bills that your customers may not pay for up to 30 - 60 days. Factoring your accounts receivable helps you maintain a constant flow of cash. In a trucking environment that is by nature hectic, constants are critical! Regular, on time payments from your customers can often be a challenge.

  • How quickly do your customers pay?

  • Do you spend time chasing payments?

  • Have you offered discounts but still spend time collecting?

  • How many of your customers are 'solid' payers?
